They want to join in saying ‘Thank you’ for the miracle of life and we would like to help you do that.
A Baptism is sometimes also called a ‘Christening’
Preparation
A baptism is a very important event in a child’s life, which only happens once for each person and so we make careful preparations.
On the Saturday afternoon ie the date before your baptism takes place there will a time of preparation,
4-5pm in All Saints church
This is a good opportunity to have a look at the words of the service, to go through its meaning, watch a DVD together and to talk together about the Christian faith.
Parents and godparents are warmly encouraged to attend
Baptism services are held most months in All Saints church at 1pm

Come along
Baptism is about becoming a member of the God’s church, so why not come along one Sunday and see for yourself what goes on!
10.30 to St Albans ( which includes a Sunday club for children) or 6.30pm to All Saints,
The church family will be very pleased to see you
Who may be baptised?
Any person who lives in Heath or Holmewood (or who lives elsewhere but attends the church) may bring a child, or come themselves for Baptism
Thanksgiving
Prior to coming for Baptism we ask you to bring your child to a thanksgiving service.
We say thank you to God for the birth of your baby and ask a blessing on your family.
Thanksgivings will take place during the 10.30am services at St Albans on Sundays:
A Thanksgiving service does not ask you to make any promises and you do not have to be a member of a Church to take part in it.
Some people prefer to only take part in a Thanksgiving service and then to leave open the possibility of baptism later as a child or an adult.
Godparents
Godparents will themselves have been baptised.
Usually a boy has 2 men and 1 woman
and a girl has 2 women and 1 man to act as godparents.
You will consider carefully who you are going to ask to be godparents to your child, but do think about choosing someone who, along with everything else will often pray for your child.
Fees
We do not make a charge for baptisms but because of the high cost of running the church we do appreciate it if you put a reasonable (but entirely voluntary) donation into the collection plate at the baptism service
